Steve Marshall

Steve is a mathematics graduate and worked as a chartered accountant for 25 years.

He has written music since his teenage years, studying music theory and composition with a diverse selection of teachers.

His instrument was the saxophone, which he played in a variety of bands, but everything changed in 2001, when he took early retirement on returning from ten years in France. He immediately discovered the recorder, and since then has produced many compositions and arrangements for the instrument (publishing many of them under the banner of May Hill Edition).

He conducts widely and has finally formalised his musical education by obtaining a postgraduate diploma in music.

Steve is on the SRP’s visiting conductors’ list and is the U3A’s national advisor for recorders.
